About Us
The Sangha is led by Karen Heishin Spencer and Ian Hosho Spencer, (far left in picture) and we meet in the Hall of the United Reform Church, Albany Terrace WR1 3DU.
Plenty of free car parking on site and a short walk from Worcester Foregate Street Railway Station
We meet every Friday afternoon and start sitting at 1.00pm and finish at 2.30pm.
Each session includes traditional chanting and consists of 2 or 3 periods of Zen meditation "Zazen", lasting 25 minutes each, interspersed with short periods of walking meditation "Kinhin"
There is time together afterwards to talk and ask questions.
We also have regular longer times together with zen teaching, talks and the opportunity for one to one teaching called "Dokusan"
Buddha, flowers and incense are set out ready for each session as well as cushions, mats and chairs to sit on.
The suggested donation "Dana" is £5 per regular session. The longer meetings are priced according to duration and venue.
Should your interest and commitment to Zen deepen, there are regular opportunities for study under the direction of our accredited teachers.
There are also weekend retreats "Sesshin" and day retreats "Zazenkai" during the year.
That said, you are welcome to just come and sit whenever you can, no need to book, just turn up!
This is the only Soto Zen Sangha meeting regularly in Worcestershire, so do come for a look - we'd love to see and welcome you.
